World Water Council supports the 2023 UN Water Conference

Share news

The World Water Council is invited and participates to the United Nations Water Conference from March 22 to 24, 2023 in New York.

Our goal: to make water a political priority.

Edito By Loïc Fauchon : New York, a historical landmark

New York is a unique city.

It is also the center of global governance. With its weaknesses and successes.

From 22 to 24 March, water will be examined, discussed and celebrated. Because since Mar del Plata conference, more than 50 years ago, the silence has been deafening. Water has disappeared from the world’s stage. Water availability and quality as well as the right to access to water have been removed from the priorities of this world.

Only with SDG 6 the importance of water has been brought back to light.

The UN Water Conference in March 2023 marks a new awareness for the urgency of considering water security as essential to the survival of our planet.

Let us not miss this opportunity in New York to convince decision-makers, media and the general public that we must stop ignoring water.  And that it is definitely a matter of political decisions.

We often say: Water is politics! And we will carry this message, among others, to New York and beyond.
