Honorary presidents
Honorary Presidents are former Presidents of the World Water Council who continue to dedicate their time and expertise to advancing water as a global priority. We recognize their ongoing commitment by conferring this honorary title, which authorizes them to represent the World Water Council when appropriate.
PRESIDENT 2012-2018
Former President of several organizations dedicated to water management, such as ABRHidro, SABESP, the Agência Nacional de Aguas and IWRA, he worked for more than 30 years to encourage the protection of water resources. It is one of the reasons why he was elected President of the World Water Council between 2012 and 2018, for two terms of three years each. To thank him for his service towards the Water community, he was appointed Honorary President of the World Water Council in 2019. He is also the President of the Latin America Water Council since august 2024.
