The World Water Council is pleased to announce the appointment of its new Youth Delegates for the forthcoming mandate.
This year, the Council received more than 2,000 applications from young professionals and changemakers across the globe. The exceptional quality and diversity of applications reflect the growing commitment of youth to shaping sustainable and inclusive water futures.
The Youth Delegates play a key role in strengthening intergenerational dialogue, contributing to international water policy discussions, and ensuring that youth perspectives are meaningfully integrated into global water governance processes. Through their engagement in regional and global platforms, they act as bridges between young professionals, institutions, and decision-makers within the water community.
We are proud to introduce the four newly appointed Youth Delegates:
Samar Al Kreidy – Youth Delegate, Asia (Lebanon)
Samar Al Kreidy is a PhD candidate in International Relations and Diplomacy and holds a Master’s degree in the same field. She serves as the Regional Communications and Advocacy Officer at Blue Peace Middle East and as the Lebanese Youth Ambassador for the initiative, working on water diplomacy, sustainable water management, and regional cooperation.
Through her work, Samar actively brings youth perspectives into regional and international discussions on water and sustainability. She has participated in global platforms such as Stockholm World Water Week, the Arab Water Conference, and other climate- and water-focused forums. An active member of the International Water Association, she contributes regularly to discussions advancing cooperation and sustainable water governance across Asia and beyond.
Luis Enrique Ramírez – Youth Delegate, Americas (Mexico)
Luis Enrique Ramírez is a civil engineer with a strong passion for water, sustainability, and the role of infrastructure in improving quality of life. His professional interests focus on water resources, hydraulic systems, and environmental resilience.
He brings experience in technical drawing and project development, working on initiatives that connect engineering expertise with community needs and long-term environmental responsibility. Committed to advancing responsible and inclusive water management, Luis aims to strengthen youth engagement and technical contributions across the Americas.
Klaudia Szabelka – Youth Delegate, Europe (Poland)
Klaudia Szabelka is an international lawyer, economist, and political scientist currently completing two PhDs: one in International Law at the University of Glasgow, and another in Water Governance and Environmental Justice at Glasgow Caledonian University.
Her research examines water governance, justice, regulation, and water reuse, with particular attention to how power and equity shape sustainable water futures. Klaudia’s work bridges academic research and policy practice, contributing to discussions on regulatory innovation and inclusive governance. As Youth Delegate for Europe, she is committed to strengthening youth participation and promoting evidence-based, equitable water policies.
Abdulrasheed Isah Abubakr – Youth Delegate, Africa (Nigeria)
Abdulrasheed Isah Abubakr has a background in Software Engineering and is currently pursuing an MSc in Sustainable Development with a Global Health specialisation. He works with the Federal Government of Nigeria and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), supporting the monitoring, implementation, and evaluation of development programmes, including projects focused on water security, equitable access, and governance.
Driven by the conviction that sustainable transformation in the Global South requires meaningful youth leadership, Abdulrasheed advocates for youth not merely as symbolic participants, but as decision-makers shaping policy and long-term solutions grounded in lived realities.
The World Water Council looks forward to working closely with the new Youth Delegates as they contribute to advancing youth leadership, fostering inclusive dialogue, and supporting global efforts toward sustainable water management.
