This Wednesday, Mr. Shaddad Al Attili, Minister for Water from the Palestinian Authority, was received by Loïc Fauchon, President of the World Water Council, to discuss the participation of Palestinian organisations in the 6th World Water Forum, Marseille 2012. It was a highly symbolic visit for the World Water Council, one priority of whose is to facilitate dialogue in regions of the world where water is a permanent source of tension. Loïc Fauchon, therefore, proposed the Council’s support to organise a high-level meeting between Israelis, Palestinians and Jordanians during the next Forum, in order to encourage the implementation of joint solutions related to water and sanitation, a proposal received very favorably by Mr. Shaddad Al Attili. The Minister also expressed support for concrete actions to reinforce access to water in Palestine, in particular in the Gaza Strip. A member of the World Water Council, the Palestinian Authority thus demonstrates its will to strengthen its action and its representation within the international water community.
